Miss Iliza
Miss Iliza began acting as a young girl. She studied at ACT in San Francisco, appearing in a number of their professional productions as a child actor. She also performed with The San Francisco Girl’s Chorus.
Miss Iliza is a third generation teacher. Her grandmother, Irene Abbe, was a beloved teacher and reading specialist at The Hamlin School for more than 40 years. Growing up, Miss Iliza was gifted with the opportunity to observe her grandmother tutoring young students and spend afternoons in Miss Tilly’s ballet studio, learning from her grandmother’s and mother’s expertise. Miss Iliza taught first grade in Los Angeles and tutored both college-age and young children in English, while continuing to act and sing for community theater productions.
Thirteen years ago, Miss Iliza began her Theater Arts Program at Miss Tilly’s School. She saw a lack of theater programs for younger children in San Francisco and realized that she could combine her areas of expertise; teaching, acting, singing and children (she has four sons), to provide a wonderful learning experience to the young child, hungry for a joyful, creative environment in which to bring his or her intrinsic love of make believe and performance to a new level.
